My story

I am an artist living in Perth, Western Australia with my husband Nik, and our dog, Freyja. I create my artwork out of my home studio (the home office which I’ve commandeered by filling it with art supplies!)

When I was younger I spent hours listening to music and drawing, but when I left high school I didn't create much…for around 20 years. I drew and painted a couple things here and there, but I was too busy working and living life to set aside time for art. So, now that I have reignited my passion for art, I won’t allow myself to set it aside again!

At the end of 2023 I discovered soft pastels and they are so beautiful to work with. The first portrait I completed was of Bradley, a gorgeous guide dog puppy in training who lived with us for 14 months. I finished his portrait the day before he moved on to his formal training, and out of our lives. This really highlighted what a special memento that portrait was for us, to have his beautiful, beaming face on our wall to enjoy and remember the impact he had on our lives. It turns out a lot of people felt the same! It’s not just a nice piece of art, it’s a memory that holds a lot of joy and emotion, and it’s an amazing feeling to be able to create artwork like this for other people too.

For now my commissions are mainly in soft pastels, they have such a lovely texture and a range of vibrant colours. I am experimenting with different mediums as I go (I have 20 years of artistic experimenting to unleash, so I’ll try everything). But soft pastels allow me to achieve that high level of detail and velvety fur-like texture that brings the portrait to life.

Thank you for your interest in my artwork, and if you haven't yet, please take a look through my gallery and commissions pages.
